Description

She rides into battle, serene and sovereign, cast in silver that does not apologise for its weight. This pendant draws from the devotional silversmith traditions of South and East India, where the goddess is rendered not as ornament but as presence. Durga is shown seated upon her lion throne, a posture of composed authority rather than martial fury, the silhouette reading cleanly within its compact 1.25 inches (approximately 3.2 cm) in height and 0.75 inches (approximately 1.9 cm) in width. The piece is worked in sterling silver, finished to a warm oxidised tone that carves shadow into every fold of her garment and every sinew of the lion beneath her. At 6.17 grams, it carries the satisfying density of considered silverwork, not the hollow lightness of production casting. The detailing across the throne and the figure's crown suggests careful hand-chasing, the kind of patient surface work that gives devotional silver its legibility and its gravity. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a silk Kanjeevaram blouse at a puja or festival gathering, where the motif reads as personal faith rather than costume. It sits equally well against an ivory cotton kurta on ordinary mornings when you want something quietly anchoring. The pendant suits a standard bail and sits close to the chest at modest lengths. Sterling silver at this weight needs only a light polish to hold its lustre, and oxidised recesses require no maintenance to remain defined.
