Description

She who holds the universe in her four hands rests here, small and sovereign, at the hollow of your throat. Bhuvaneshvari, "she who is the world," is one of the ten Mahavidyas, and to render her in silver is an act of devotion as much as craft. This pendant belongs to a lineage of devotional silverwork that has long flourished in the temple towns of South India and the silver-working ateliers of Rajasthan, where artisans have pressed sacred iconography into the white metal for centuries. Cast and hand-finished in sterling silver, the piece carries the goddess in her classical form, four-armed and serene, her proportions balanced within a shaped frame. At just one inch in height (approximately 2.5 cm) by 0.6 inches in width (approximately 1.5 cm) and a light 2 grams, the silverwork achieves extraordinary detail at an intimate scale. The surface carries the fine texture of hand-worked sterling, cool to the touch and luminous in its natural finish. Wear her on a fine sterling or oxidised silver chain with a white cotton handloom kurta for daily worship and quiet contemplation, or let her anchor a silk chanderi blouse on the occasion of a puja or religious festival, where her iconography will be recognised and honoured. Free size, the pendant suits any neck and any chain weight. Sterling silver at this lightness is ideal for daily wear, requiring only a soft cloth to restore its gentle gleam.
