Description

There are prayers that travel through the fingers, and there are prayers that rest against the heart. The five-faced Rudraksha bead is among the most revered in Hindu sacred tradition, its five mukhis said to carry the blessings of Lord Shiva in his Panchamukha form. This certified bead, each line and groove formed by nature rather than by the karigar's hand, is cradled in a simple sterling silver setting that keeps the silver's cool, matte presence from competing with the bead itself. The mount is spare and honest, a collet or cap of polished sterling silver that holds the bead at its crown and loops cleanly through a bail for the cord or chain of your choice. At just 0.8 inches in height and 0.3 inches in width (roughly 2 cm by 0.7 cm), it weighs no more than one gram. Nothing here is decorative for decoration's sake; the restraint is the point. Wear it against a crisp white cotton kurta on an ordinary Tuesday, letting its texture read quietly against the cloth, or beneath a Benarasi blouse on a more ceremonial occasion, where it becomes a private, devotional counterpoint to the grandeur of the weave. Free-sized and requiring no adjustment, the pendant suits any neck and any cord weight. Sterling silver requires only occasional gentle cleaning to keep its surface bright, and the bead itself asks only for care away from prolonged moisture.
