Description
There is something ancient in the impulse to coil: the spiral that appears on temple friezes, on tribal silver from the hills, on the wrist of a woman who knows her own mind. This ring follows that instinct directly. A continuous spiral of sterling silver winds itself into a bold architectural form, rising to a height of twenty-four millimetres and anchored by a domed cabochon of malachite, its banded greens ranging from deep forest to pale celadon. The stone sits without a conventional prong or bezel but is cradled by the coiled silver itself, a technique that belongs to a long tradition of tribal and artisan silverwork found across Rajasthan and the hill crafts of central India. The sterling silver has been left with a considered finish, allowing the cool grey of the metal to recede and let the malachite's graphic patterning claim full attention. The ring weighs six grams, substantial enough to feel meaningful on the hand without becoming heavy. A second colourway in tiger eye, with its warm, honey-brown shimmer, offers the same form in an entirely different temperament. Wear the malachite version with a cotton mul kurta in ivory or indigo for an afternoon that moves between a gallery and a bookshop. The tiger eye reads with equal ease against a silk tussar blouse at an informal evening gathering. Available in sizes seven through nine point five, including half sizes. Sterling silver is gentle on sensitive skin and requires only a soft cloth to restore its quiet lustre.
