Description

There are mornings when a single pendant carries the weight of an entire prayer. Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the lord of new beginnings, is rendered here in sterling silver with a devotion that recalls the votive silverwork traditions of South India, particularly the temple-craft lineages of Nagercoil and Kumbakonam. The deity is shown seated upon a throne, his posture at once regal and benevolent, the modak held gently, the trunk curved inward in the auspicious left-facing position. Sterling silver, worked and finished by hand, gives the figure its warm, luminous surface. Two finishes are offered: a high Polish, measuring 0.65 inches in height by 0.3 inches in width (approximately 1.65 cm by 0.76 cm), compact and bright against the skin; and a larger Vintage finish, measuring 1.2 inches by 0.7 inches (approximately 3 cm by 1.78 cm), its oxidised patina drawing out every carved detail in soft relief. The pendant weighs 9.16 grams. The Polish finish suits everyday devotion, worn on a fine silver chain with a white cotton kurta or a silk saree blouse for morning puja or a quiet office day. The Vintage finish reads beautifully against a handwoven Kanjeevaram or a deep-toned linen, lending itself to weddings, festivals and auspicious ceremonies. Free in size and simple to suspend on any chain, this pendant requires no special care beyond occasional polishing with a soft cloth to restore its silver brilliance.
