Description

There are devotions that go beyond the temple, and this pendant carries one of them. Cast in sterling silver and centred on a rendering of Lord Krishna mid-flute, the piece draws from a long tradition of devotional silversmithing that has flourished across temple towns from Nagercoil to Bengal. The figure is conceived in careful relief, the posture holding that characteristic tribhanga tilt, the flute raised to the lips. Cradling the composition is a certified Karungali Rudraksha bead, its dark, dense grain contrasting quietly against the cool grey of the silver. Karungali wood carries its own scriptural weight, associated with protective and meditative properties, and its presence here makes the pendant as much a talisman as an ornament. At 2.3 inches height by 1.2 inches width (approximately 5.8 cm by 3 cm) and a substantial 12 grams, the piece has presence without excess. Wear it on a black cotton cord against a Chanderi kurta for a devotional occasion, the simplicity of the fabric letting the silverwork read clearly. On quieter days, a fine silver chain against a collarless white linen shirt carries it into considered everyday territory. The sterling silver construction ensures durability and a finish that responds well to gentle polishing over time. The free-size format means it suits any cord or chain of your choosing. At 12 grams, it rests with intention at the chest, neither heavy nor forgettable.
