Description

There are devotions small enough to wear close to the heart. Cast in sterling silver, this pendant renders the eternal flautist in his most beloved posture: weight shifted to one hip, the murali raised, a gentle cow standing at his side. The composition is intimate rather than monumental, barely two centimetres tall and less than a centimetre wide, yet the silversmith has found room for the characteristic tribhanga stance, the peacock feather suggested in the crown, and the quiet presence of the cow that marks him as Govinda, keeper of herds. The tradition of carrying Krishna in miniature silver belongs to temple-craft centres across the subcontinent, from the votive silversmiths of Nagercoil to the devotional workshops of Bengal, where the deity is never merely decorative but always understood as a living presence condensed into form. At just two grams, the piece rests with almost no weight at all. Thread it on a fine black silk cord for daily puja mornings, letting it sit above the collarbone against a simple cotton kurta. For a festive occasion, pair it with a woven Chanderi or a cream silk saree, where the oxidised silver reads as considered adornment rather than afterthought. At 0.8 inches (roughly two centimetres) in height and 0.3 inches (under one centimetre) in width, this is a free-size pendant suited to any cord or chain already in your collection. Sterling silver at this weight wears lightly and requires only a soft cloth to restore its quiet lustre.
