Description

There are objects that carry a breath of the sacred into the everyday, and this brooch is one of them. Cast in warm brass and finished to evoke the burnished glow of older devotional metalwork, the Fluting Krishna Brooch centres on a figure of Krishna at his flute, rendered with the rounded, almost lyrical quality that characterises temple craft traditions across Rajasthan and South India. The brooch measures 1.75 inches in height by 2.25 inches in width (approximately 4.4 cm by 5.7 cm) and weighs a substantial 17.8 grams, giving it the quiet authority of an heirloom piece rather than a lightweight fashion accessory. Its most arresting detail is the tiger nail, a nakh, set within the composition, a protective talisman long used in Indian amulet jewellery and believed to carry both strength and blessing. The combination of devotional iconography and protective symbol speaks to a layered visual language that serious collectors of craft jewellery will immediately recognise. Pin it to the fold of a handwoven cotton dupatta for a heritage-inflected daytime look, or secure it at the neckline of a raw silk kurta for a festive gathering where the piece becomes a quiet conversation about faith and form. The brooch is free size and closes with a standard pin fitting. At just under 18 grams, the brass sits comfortably on fabric without pulling. The warm, mellow finish resists looking brassy and ages gracefully with wear.
