Description

There are devotions that do not announce themselves; they simply rest close to the heart. This pendant renders Krishna in his most beloved form: the eternal flautist, standing in the tribhanga posture with a peacock feather in his crown and his companion bird beside him. Cast in sterling silver and finished with a warm, antiqued patina, the relief work captures the fine folds of his pitambara and the curve of the flute with a quietness that belongs to the silversmithing traditions of devotional jewellery making. The motif draws on a long lineage of temple jewellery craft, where the deity is not merely depicted but invoked through the precision of the maker's hand. At 1.15 inches in height and 0.75 inches in width (approximately 2.9 cm by 1.9 cm), and weighing a composed 6.7 grams, the piece carries itself with presence without heaviness. Wear it on a fine silver chain over an ivory or off-white kurta for a quiet, considered everyday piety. It sits equally well against a deep silk blouse at a festive occasion, letting the antiqued silver catch candlelight without competing with heavier embellishment. The pendant is free-size in the truest sense: the bail accommodates most standard chains, and the compact dimensions make it comfortable for all-day wear. The sterling silver construction ensures it holds its finish well, requiring only an occasional soft polish to restore its gentle lustre.
