Description

There are flowers that bloom once a season, and then there are flowers caught in silver, perpetually mid-bloom. This pendant draws from the quiet, unadorned silversmithing traditions that have long flourished outside the more gilded ateliers of Jaipur and Bikaner. Worked in sterling silver, the bloom is shaped petal by petal into a flat, layered floral silhouette, its centre set with a single rainbow moonstone whose adularescence shifts between pale blue and soft white depending on how light falls across its surface. The stone is held in a simple bezel or prong setting that lets it breathe, allowing the silver to frame rather than compete. At 5.5 grams, the piece carries genuine weight without excess. The pendant measures approximately 3 centimetres in height by 2.5 centimetres in width (1.2 inches by 1 inch), a proportion generous enough to register as a statement yet refined enough to sit close to the collarbone without crowding it. Wear this pendant on a fine sterling chain over a handwoven chanderi kurta in ivory or pale sage for a daytime gathering. It moves equally well against the neckline of a silk slip dress at an intimate evening dinner, where the moonstone's inner light does its quiet, unhurried work. The free-size bale accommodates most chain widths. The sterling silver finish is smooth and slightly burnished, resisting the sharp brightness of high-polish work, and comfortable enough against the skin for daily wear across seasons.
