Description

There are flowers that bloom not in gardens but in silver. This pendant takes the form of an inverted curved heart, its concave silhouette giving the familiar shape an unexpected, almost architectural refinement. Within that frame, a floral motif unfolds in multicolour gemstones, each stone set to suggest petals gathering at a centre, the whole composition held in sterling silver that has been worked to a bright, clean finish. The piece measures just under one and a half centimetres in height (0.55 inch) and approximately one and a quarter centimetres in width (0.5 inch), and weighs a precise 1.9 grams, which places it firmly in the category of jewellery you forget you are wearing. Sterling silver of this kind, with its cool, dependable lustre, has long been the metal of choice for artisans who want the stones to lead, the setting to serve. Wear it on a fine box chain against a silk kurta in ivory or blush for a wedding lunch, letting the colour of the stones do the speaking. It sits equally well at the collar of a linen shirt for an afternoon where the occasion is simply your own pleasure. The free-size bale fits chains from slender to moderately substantial. The sterling silver will not compromise with daily wear, and the modest weight means it travels without fuss. A small piece, yes, but not a slight one.
