Description

There are flowers that bloom only in silver. This pendant carries the unmistakable grammar of Polki work rendered in sterling silver rather than gold, a quiet democratisation of a craft whose roots run deep through the ateliers of Jaipur. Uncut Polki diamonds, set flat and foil-backed in the traditional manner, are arranged as petals around a central Ethiopian opal whose spectral play of colour shifts between pale fire and cool aqua depending on the light. The floral silhouette is precise without being rigid: each petal holds its diamond in a fine collet, and the whole composition measures approximately 2.2 cm in height by 1.8 cm in width, with a modest depth of just 0.5 cm. At 4.8 grams, the piece sits close to the throat without pulling. The sterling silver base lends a cooler, more contemporary tone than yellow gold would, making the opal's iridescence the unambiguous focal point. Wear it over a raw-silk kurta in ivory or sage for a literary festival or an afternoon wedding reception, where it reads as considered rather than conspicuous. It works equally well against the neckline of a linen blazer for a gallery opening or a client lunch that calls for something personal and quietly exceptional. The pendant arrives as a free-size piece, suited to any standard chain or cord the wearer already owns. Sterling silver requires occasional gentle cleaning to maintain its brightness, but rewards that small effort with years of faithful wear.
