Description

There is a quiet generosity in a strand that gives you three hundred and fifteen chances to catch the light. Grossular garnet, the rarest-tempered member of the garnet family, arrives here in its most democratic form: fine-cut rondells, each averaging three millimetres across, strung into a fifteen-inch (38.1 cm) strand that weighs just ten grams against the collarbone. The rondell cut, a disc shape ground flat at the poles and bevelled around the girdle, is favoured by craftspeople across Jaipur's gem-cutting lanes precisely because it preserves the stone's depth while allowing light to travel laterally through the bead. Grossular garnet, in its warm olive-to-honey range, carries a transparency that neither imitates nor apologises; it simply holds colour the way old glass holds afternoon sun. The result is a strand of remarkable chromatic evenness, bead pressed to bead in satisfying repetition. Wear it as a single choker against a hand-block cotton kurta in ivory or sage, letting the stone's warmth read as its own ornament. Layered twice and knotted loosely, it becomes an evening companion to a Banarasi silk blouse in antique gold. The strand is offered free-size, which in practice means the fifteen-inch length suits most necklines as a close-fitted collar. The rondell shape ensures the beads sit flush and flat, without the rolling or twisting common to round beads, making this a piece as reliable as it is lovely.
