Description

There are stones that hold light the way still water holds the sky. This faceted tourmaline pendant is set in sterling silver, its gem cut to coax every shift of colour from the stone's natural interior. Tourmaline is celebrated among jewellers for its pleochroism, that quality of appearing to change hue as the angle of light changes, and the faceting here is designed precisely to honour that mercurial character. Sterling silver, with its cool, slightly matte finish, does not compete with the stone but frames it with quiet authority. The setting is clean and architectural, measuring one inch in height and one inch in width (approximately 2.5 cm by 2.5 cm), and the piece weighs a considered 6.23 grams, substantial enough to feel intentional at the collarbone without pulling. Though this pendant does not belong to the Kundan or Jadau traditions, it shares their underlying philosophy: that the stone is the subject, and the metalwork is simply its most faithful translator. Wear it over a fine ivory cotton kurta for a literary afternoon, where its quiet colour becomes a conversation. Or layer it against a silk blouse in ivory or charcoal at an evening gathering, letting the tourmaline's depth speak without ornamentation. The free-size chain compatibility makes it adaptable to most necklace lengths already in your collection. Sterling silver is low-maintenance with occasional gentle polishing, and this piece moves as naturally through everyday wear as it does through ceremony.
