Description

There are stones that do not merely catch light; they hold it, turn it slowly, and give it back in colours that have no name. This pendant is set in sterling silver, its form rising to a height of approximately 5.3 cm and spanning 4.1 cm across, with a total weight of 32.2 grams that gives it a satisfying, unhurried presence against the chest. The centrepiece is a faceted rainbow moonstone, cut to draw out the full adularescence of the mineral: that soft interior bloom of blue, violet and pale gold that shifts with every movement of the wearer. Faceting, rather than the more common cabochon cut, adds a geometric precision to what is otherwise an entirely intuitive, organic effect. Sterling silver suits this stone with uncommon rightness, its cool white metal neither competing with nor dulling the moonstone's iridescence. The silverwork framing the stone is restrained and considered, designed to display rather than overwhelm. Pair it with a fine silk chanderi kurta in ivory or soft grey for a daytime cultural event, where the stone's play of colour reads as quiet ceremony. For evening, wear it against bare skin with a structured chikankari blouse, and let the pendant carry the ornament entirely. The free-size chain makes it effortlessly adaptable across necklines. Sterling silver, properly stored, resists tarnish well and asks only occasional gentle polishing. This is a piece one reaches for repeatedly, without deliberation.
