Description

There are evenings when the light behaves like water, and this pendant was made for exactly those moments. Worked in sterling silver, the piece presents a layered composition of faceted rainbow moonstone and deep amethyst, set together in a frame that rewards close attention. The faceting is precise, not decorative excess but a considered choice: it allows each stone to hold and scatter light differently, the moonstone shifting through its characteristic blue-white adularescence while the amethyst offers a steady, saturated violet counterpoint. Sterling silver, with its cool grey lustre, is the right metal for both these stones; it neither competes with their colour nor retreats from it. At two inches in height (approximately 5.1 cm) and 1.4 inches in width (approximately 3.6 cm), the pendant carries genuine presence without tipping into theatre. Weighing 27.25 grams, it has a satisfying heft that speaks to the generosity of the setting. Wear it against the high neckline of a silk kurta in winter, where the amethyst deepens alongside the fabric. For evening occasions, let it anchor the neckline of a draped georgette sari in ivory or pale gold, the moonstone doing its slow, interior work under candlelight. The pendant comes in free size, suited to a variety of chain gauges, and the sterling silver finish requires only occasional gentle polishing to maintain its clarity. A reliable, quietly beautiful choice for daily wear that does not announce itself.
