Description

There is a particular clarity that belongs only to water and to blue topaz held against winter light. This ring centres a faceted blue topaz, its glacial brilliance amplified by the geometry of the cut, each facet returning light at a slightly different angle so the stone reads differently from every glance. The setting is sterling silver, worked to a clean, close-fitting mount that lets the stone remain the sole voice of the piece. Sterling silver, with its cooler grey-white tone, is the natural companion to blue topaz; together they occupy a tradition of gemstone silversmithing that runs through the workshops of Jaipur, where craftsmen have long understood how a restrained mount can make a coloured stone sing without competition. The ring stands at half an inch, or approximately 1.3 centimetres, in height and weighs a precise four grams, which gives it genuine presence without bulk. Wear it with a crisp white or ivory chanderi kurta for a formal lunch, where the ring catches light across a table without demanding attention. For a diaspora wardrobe, it moves with equal ease alongside a collarless linen shirt and fine silk trousers at a gallery opening or an evening dinner. The ring is available in size 7 and the silver has been polished to a bright finish that cleans simply with a soft cloth. At four grams, it sits on the finger without fatigue, making it as practical for an afternoon of work as it is for an evening in company.
