Description
There is a particular hour in the afternoon when light moves through a gemstone and refuses to settle on a single colour. Ametrine is a stone of two minds, carrying the warm amber of citrine and the cool violet of amethyst within the same crystal, formed where both minerals meet at a natural boundary inside the earth. Here, that duality is preserved in 56 coin-shaped beads, each one faceted to catch light from every plane and strung across a 13.5-inch (approximately 34 cm) strand. At an average diameter of 6 mm, the coins are small enough to feel delicate yet substantial enough to read clearly at the collar. No metal clasp overwhelms the strand; the beads speak entirely for themselves. This is not a tradition rooted in Kundan or Jadau settings, but in an older, quieter craft: the lapidary's art of cutting and revealing what a raw stone already contains. Semi-precious bead necklaces of this kind have long been worn across Rajasthan and Gujarat, threaded simply so that the stone remains the only argument. Wear it over an ivory chanderi kurta for a weekday meeting where restraint signals confidence, or layer it against a deep plum silk sari blouse for a festive evening where the violet and gold tones in the beads echo the fabric. Both pairings let the ametrine do what it does best: shift. The strand weighs 10 grams and sits comfortably at the collar. The beads are strung on a single strand, suited to daily wear and easy re-stringing when required.
