Description

There is a particular quiet that lives inside a well-cut amethyst, the way violet deepens toward the centre and softens at every faceted edge. This pendant is worked in sterling silver, a metal that suits the cool, contemplative personality of amethyst far better than gold ever could. The stone sits at the heart of the piece in a close bezel or prong setting, its facets cut to draw light inward and release it slowly, the way dusk releases colour. Sterling silver lends itself to a clean, slightly oxidised finish in pieces of this character, allowing the metalwork frame to recede and let the gem speak. At one point nine inches in height and one point five inches in width (approximately four point eight by three point eight centimetres), the pendant carries genuine presence without overwhelm, and its weight of eleven grams confirms the generosity of the silver used. This is not a delicate wisp of a piece; it is considered, solid and unhurried in its proportions. Wear it against a slate-grey or ivory cotton kurta for afternoon gatherings, where the violet catches whatever natural light is available. It translates equally well over a silk blouse with wide-legged trousers for an evening out that asks for restraint rather than ceremony. The free-size pendant suits most chain lengths and sits naturally at the collarbone. Sterling silver requires only occasional gentle cleaning to maintain its lustre, making this a reliable piece for regular rotation without anxiety.
