Description

There are faces that do not merely adorn; they protect. Narasimha, the lion-faced avatar who tears through illusion, is here rendered in sterling silver with the controlled intensity that only Meenakari can summon. The enamel work, fired in vivid colour against the silver ground, traces every detail of the divine countenance: the fierce brow, the sovereign mane, the expression poised between wrath and grace. Meenakari, long perfected in the ateliers of Jaipur and Bikaner, demands a steady hand and a patient kiln; even a small piece such as this, measuring just 3.18 centimetres in height and 2.16 centimetres in width and sitting a considered 0.89 centimetres deep, holds layers of enamel that must be built and refired in sequence. At six grams, the pendant carries genuine presence without burden. Thread it on a black silk cord for a devotional salwar or a cream cotton kurta on an auspicious weekday. For evenings, pair it with a raw silk blouse in ivory or deep ochre, where the enamel colours speak without competition. The pendant is finished to a smooth sterling silver reverse that rests comfortably against the skin, and the bail is proportioned for both fine chains and thicker cords. Free-sized and lightweight enough for daily wear, it moves between the sacred and the everyday with the quiet authority of a piece that was made to last across generations, not just seasons.
