Description

She stands radiant in yellow, the goddess who stills all adversaries. Baglamukhi, known also as Pitambara, is one of the ten Mahavidyas, her iconography inseparable from the colour of turmeric and the authority of stillness. This sterling silver pendant renders her in fine Meenakari enamel, the vitreous colours fired into recessed channels in the silver ground to produce a surface that is at once luminous and indelible. The tradition belongs most faithfully to the workshops of Jaipur, where generations of meenakars have perfected the layering of opaque and translucent enamels over silver, coaxing depth from pigment and heat. The pendant measures approximately 4.3 cm in height by 4.7 cm in width and 1.1 cm in depth, and weighs a substantive 13 grams, enough that it rests with genuine presence against the chest rather than shifting with every breath. The silver is sterling, its surface serving as both canvas and devotional object. Pair it with a silk Kanjivaram in deep gold or ivory for a puja occasion, where the goddess becomes both adornment and invocation. It sits equally well against a structured kurta in cream cotton during a festive gathering, the enamel drawing the eye without demanding embellishment around it. A free-size pendant, it suits any standard chain or cord. The enamel, properly fired, is resistant to daily humidity and light. Sterling silver benefits from occasional gentle polishing to maintain its warm, pale lustre over time.
