Description

There are silhouettes that hold the sky in them, and this is one. Oyster copper turquoise, with its cream-and-teal matrix, has been cherished across the craft traditions of Rajasthan and the American Southwest alike, prized precisely because no two stones carry the same vein. Here, a single elongated pear-shaped cabochon is set in sterling silver, its warm metallic surround pressing close against the stone's natural contour in a bezel that lets the turquoise speak without interference. The pear silhouette, narrowing to a gentle point at the base and widening toward the bail, gives the piece an almost drop-like grace. Sterling silver, worked to a satin or lightly oxidised finish, deepens the copper-threaded matrix and anchors the pale blue-green of the stone against the skin. At 1.75 inches height by 0.5 inches width (approximately 4.4 cm by 1.3 cm), the pendant is slender enough to feel considered rather than declarative. Pair it with a hand-block-printed cotton kurta in indigo or rust for an afternoon gathering where craft is the conversation. Worn over a fine ivory silk blouse with Kundan jhumkas set aside in favour of simplicity, it carries a quiet confidence into a formal lunch or a literary evening. Weighing 7.3 grams, the pendant sits lightly at the collarbone. It arrives as a free-size piece, designed to thread onto a chain of your choosing, whether a delicate sterling box chain or a hand-twisted oxidised silver cord.
