Description

She arrives in silver, all nine of her forms held within a single pendant no larger than a breath. Carved and cast in sterling silver, this pendant renders the Navadurga in devotional miniature: the goddess in her complete, nine-aspected form, each manifestation suggested within the compact silhouette. The tradition of sacred iconographic pendants runs deep across India, from the temple-town goldsmiths of Nagercoil to the silver artisans of Rajasthan, where figurative work in oxidised sterling has long served both worship and adornment. Here, the silver is worked to catch light across the raised relief, the surface carrying that characteristic warm-grey depth that oxidised sterling develops over time. At 1.3 inches in height and 0.65 inches wide (roughly 3.3 cm by 1.65 cm), and weighing just 3.69 grams, the piece holds genuine presence without weight. For daily wear, layer it on a fine silver chain over a white cotton kurta or a cream silk blouse; the oxidised finish reads quietly against pale fabric. For Navratri or a temple visit, let it rest alone at the collarbone, the sole ornament, allowing the iconography to speak without competition. The free-size bail accommodates most chains from delicate to medium gauge. Sterling silver at this weight sits lightly against the skin through long hours. A gentle polish cloth maintains the surface; those who prefer the antiqued depth may simply leave it to age naturally.
