Description

There is a particular gravity to black, the way it holds light rather than scatters it. This teardrop ring is set in sterling silver, its central stone a polished black onyx cabochon cradled within a shaped bezel that follows the teardrop's natural descent. Ringing the perimeter, smaller black spinel stones are channel- or prong-set in close formation, their faceted surfaces catching the light in quiet, disciplined increments. The result is a piece of considerable presence: a study in tonal restraint, where two distinct blacks, the smooth opacity of onyx and the subtle scintillation of spinel, speak in careful counterpoint. Sterling silver in this context does not compete; it frames, lending a cool, oxidised warmth that is entirely in keeping with the contemplative character of the design. At roughly 2.5 centimetres in height and 1.9 centimetres in width, the face of the ring occupies the finger with intention.
