Description

There is something quietly arresting about a ring that carries the weight of an entire craft tradition on a single finger. Polki, in its truest spirit, is uncut stone set close to the metal so that light travels through rather than bouncing off a faceted surface. Here, that sensibility is translated into brass with admirable restraint. The matte finish on the metal does precisely what a skilled hand intends: it subdues the ground so that the polki stones read with quiet clarity against it. Brass, long favoured in folk and devotional jewellery across Rajasthan and Bengal, lends an earthen warmth that no plating can replicate. The ring face measures approximately 2.79 cm high by 2.67 cm wide, substantial enough to read as a statement piece without crossing into theatre. At ten grams it sits with presence on the hand. The adjustable shank means the ring belongs to the finger, not the size chart. It is offered in two colours, green and red, each shifting the mood entirely: green carries a forest-floor stillness; red recalls the sindoor-bright festivals of the old city bazaars. Wear the green variant against a silk chanderi kurta for a literary evening or a gallery opening where understatement is the real flex. The red reads beautifully against ivory or cream cotton at a daytime puja or a festive lunch. The adjustable band accommodates most finger sizes with ease. The matte brass does not demand polishing and ages into a patina that only improves with wear.
