Description

There is a quietness to peridot, the way its yellow-green warmth seems lit from within rather than reflected. This sterling silver ring centres a faceted peridot in a raised solitaire mount, the stone's many-sided cut catching light at every turn of the wrist. Faceting of this kind belongs to a lapidary tradition long practised across Rajasthan's gem-trading towns, where artisans learn to coax the maximum brilliance from semi-precious stones through precise, unhurried cutting. The silver setting is worked to a clean, polished finish, the band tapering gently to frame the stone without competition. At just 0.3 inches (approximately 0.76 cm) in height and weighing a neat 4 grams, the ring sits close to the hand, its proportions restrained and considered. Sterling silver's cool grey-white metal is the ideal foil for peridot's distinctive olive warmth, and the combination reads as quietly confident rather than ornamental. For daywear, pair it with a hand-block-printed kurta in ivory or sage and let the stone echo the fabric's natural tones. In the evening, it translates easily alongside a silk sari in deep emerald or gold tissue, worn alone as a deliberate understatement. Currently available in size 8, the ring is suited to everyday wear. Sterling silver benefits from occasional polishing with a soft cloth to maintain its lustre, and at 4 grams it adds no burden to the hand through a long day.
