Description

There are serpents that threaten, and then there are serpents that protect. The cobra has presided over Indian sacred imagination for millennia, coiling at the throat of Shiva, sheltering the meditating Buddha, guarding temple thresholds from Bengal to Nagercoil. This pendant carries that ancient authority into sterling silver, the hood flared in full display, the body tapering with the quiet tension of a creature mid-rise. Worked at approximately 1.15 inches in height by 0.75 inches in width (roughly 2.9 cm by 1.9 cm), the figurine is light enough for daily wear at just 5.2 grams, yet the form reads with considerable presence. Sterling silver, with its cool, matte-to-polished surface and honest weight, suits this motif precisely: no gilding, no embellishment, nothing to distract from the sculptural clarity of the serpent itself. The detailing across the hood and the scaled body rewards a closer look, speaking to the silversmith's patience with form. Wear it on a fine oxidised silver chain over a cream or ivory kurta for everyday quiet power; equally, let it rest against the collarbone with a draped silk sari when occasion calls for something more considered. The free-size pendant fits any standard chain of the wearer's choosing, making it easy to layer or to wear alone. Sterling silver requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth, and its durability makes this a piece suited to regular, unhurried use.
