Description

There are places where sky, earth and sea meet in a single stone, and this pendant is one of them. Wrought in sterling silver, this circular pendant carries at its heart a substantial disc of Tibetan turquoise, a stone long revered across the high plateaus for its blue-green depth and the quiet, veined character that no two pieces share alike. The silverwork surrounding it speaks of a tradition that travels through Himalayan and tribal jewellery schools, where the setting is as much a statement as the gem itself. Accents of coral and lapis lazuli are set within the mount, their warm rust and midnight blue pulling the composition into a conversation that feels ancient and considered. The silver finish is oxidised to throw the relief into shadow, lending the whole piece a pleasingly weathered gravitas. At 6.4 cm tall and 3 cm wide, weighing 16 grams, it sits with presence without crossing into heavy territory. Wear it against a handwoven linen kurta in natural ecru for a museum preview or a craft exhibition opening. It reads equally well layered over a simple merino rollneck on a winter afternoon. The pendant is sized as a single, universal fit, suited to chains of varying lengths. The sterling silver will patina gently over time; a soft cloth restores its original lustre. At 16 grams, the weight is perceptible but comfortable for a full day's wear.
