Description

The peacock does not simply adorn this ring; it presides over it. Rendered in brass and set with uncut Polki stones, the circular face of this ring measures 1.05 inches in height by 1.25 inches in width (approximately 2.7 cm by 3.2 cm), its diameter commanding enough presence to hold the eye without overwhelming the hand. The peacock motif sits at the centre of the composition, its form contained within a disc-shaped silhouette that draws on the vocabulary of Rajasthani jewellery, where circular forms have long served as frames for avian iconography. Polki, the uncut diamond cousin worked extensively by karigars in Jaipur and Bikaner, is here interpreted in brass, making the aesthetic of the royal court accessible without sacrificing the visual language of that tradition. The stones catch light with the characteristic flat, glassy quality of uncut settings, distinct from the hard flash of faceted gems. At 12 grams, the ring sits with satisfying weight on the finger. Wear this with a silk kurta and churidar for a festive lunch, or pair it with a handwoven cotton sari and bare arms for a cultural evening where the single statement piece does all the speaking. The adjustable shank ensures a comfortable fit across most ring sizes, and the brass base, finished to a warm golden tone, requires only occasional gentle cleaning to maintain its lustre through regular wear.
