Description

There are devotions that one pins close to the heart, and this is one of them. Chaturbhuja, the four-armed one, Ganesha appears here in full iconographic clarity: each of his four hands rendered with the care that belongs to the devotional object-making traditions of Rajasthan and Bengal, where brass has long been the chosen metal for sacred forms. Cast in weighty brass and finished in a warm antique gold tone, this brooch carries the heft of genuine craft, measuring 2.75 inches (approximately 7 cm) in height and 2 inches (approximately 5 cm) in width, and weighing a substantial 43 grams. The silhouette is dense with detail, the modak, the lotus, the ankusha and the abhaya mudra each legible in relief, brought to life through hand-finishing that catches light at every contour. The piece is offered in a single free-size format, as the pin-back closure is universally fitting. Wear it at the centre of a handloom silk dupatta pinned into a palla, or fastened to the breast pocket of an ivory linen bandhgala at a Ganesh Chaturthi gathering. It reads equally well against the deep madder of a Kanjeevaram or the subtle weave of a Chanderi kurta set. The pin-back closure sits flat and holds firmly against both light and heavy fabrics. At 43 grams, the piece has presence without pulling at the cloth, and the brass finish resists the dullness of daily handling with only an occasional soft cloth needed to restore its glow.
