Description

She who conquers time, now carried close to the heart. Chamunda Maa, the fierce and liberating aspect of the Goddess, has been venerated in silver shrines and processional jewellery across Rajasthan, Bengal and the temple towns of Tamil Nadu for centuries. This pendant renders her in sterling silver, the metal of the moon and of devotional craft, its surface worked to bring out the deity's characteristic iconography with quiet, assured detail. At 1.3 inches in height by 0.85 inches in width (approximately 3.3 cm by 2.2 cm), the silhouette is intimate rather than declarative, a talisman meant for personal devotion as much as adornment. Weighing 6.3 grams, the silver sits with a pleasing solidity against the chest, neither weightless nor cumbersome. The finish holds the warmth of oxidised or brushed sterling, allowing the relief work to read clearly without the distraction of high polish. Wear it on a fine silver chain beneath a cotton handloom kurta on an ordinary Tuesday, letting the goddess travel quietly with you through the day. For a more considered occasion, thread it on a longer chain over a deep-toned Banarasi or Kanjeevaram blouse, where silver against silk carries its own ceremony. The pendant is free-sized in the sense that it requires no fitting, suited to any chain or cord the wearer chooses. Sterling silver at this weight wears well daily, needing only occasional gentle cleaning to keep the surface true.
