Description
There are rings you wear, and there are rings that wear you into a different era entirely. At the heart of this piece sits a chakra, the ancient wheel of continuity, rendered in full bloom as a layered floral medallion. The Kundan technique, perfected in the ateliers of Jaipur and carried across Rajasthan for centuries, involves pressing foiled stones into a gold-lacquered base with painstaking precision, each gem held not by a claw but by refined sheets of refined metal worked into the setting itself. Here that same tradition has been interpreted in brass, a metal long favoured by artisans for its warmth and its receptivity to surface detail. The result is a cocktail ring of considerable presence: one and a quarter inches tall and one point two inches wide (approximately 3.2 cm by 3 cm), weighing a satisfying thirteen grams, with a surface that catches and scatters light in the manner of a Rajasthani thali at dusk. Wear it against a raw silk kurta in ivory or blush for a festive lunch, and it becomes the only ornament the hand needs. Paired with a heavily embroidered lehenga, it reads as a considered counterpoint, restrained in silhouette even as its Kundan face commands attention. The adjustable shank makes it practical across finger sizes without sacrificing the ring's architectural composure. Brass worn with care, kept away from water and perfume, retains its lustre admirably, making this a piece suited to regular celebration rather than the occasional velvet box.
