Description

Stillness, rendered in brass, pinned close to the heart. The Buddha here is caught mid-teaching, his right hand raised in Vitarka Mudra, the gesture of reasoning and instruction that Buddhist iconography has preserved across centuries of devotional craft. Cast in brass and finished to a warm, antiqued tone, the brooch reads less like an accessory and more like a portable shrine piece, recalling the votive medallions that once adorned temple processional robes across South and Southeast Asia. At 3.9 inches tall (approximately 9.9 cm), the figure has genuine presence: the seated posture is composed, the facial expression serene, and the weight of 41 grams gives the piece a satisfying, substantial feel that cheap castings never achieve. Brass, long favoured in devotional metalwork for its golden warmth and durability, is an honest material here, one with real spiritual and craft lineage. Pin it to the lapel of a cream handloom kurta for a contemplative, gallery-ready look, or wear it centred on the neckline of a structured linen blazer for a meeting where you wish to carry quiet conviction into the room. The brooch is free size and closes with a standard pin-back fastening that sits flat and secure against most fabrics. Its antiqued brass finish requires no special care beyond keeping it away from prolonged moisture. At 41 grams, it sits firmly but does not pull on lighter weaves when pinned correctly near a seam or placket.
