Description

Devotion, rendered in brass, worn close to the heart. The Shiva Linga is among the oldest sacred forms in the subcontinent, and here it finds expression not in stone or silver but in warm, oxidised brass, cast and finished with the quiet confidence of a tradition that has always understood the sacred geometry of simple forms. The lapel pin rises to approximately 7.6 cm (3 inches) in height and 2.5 cm (1 inch) in width; the brooch, slightly broader at 3.3 cm (1.3 inches) and 5.3 cm (2.1 inches) tall, carries the same motif at a scale that anchors a garment rather than adorning it. Together they weigh 35 grams, substantial enough to feel intentional on the hand. The brass is worked to a finish that honours the metal's own warmth, its amber-gold tones deepening where they meet shadow, lending the Linga its meditative weight without ornament or artifice. Wear the brooch pinned to the left chest of a hand-woven linen kurta for a morning puja gathering, or fix the lapel pin to the lapel of a raw-silk bandhgala for a cultural evening where restraint is the highest expression of reverence. Both closures are standard pin-backs, secure and flat-lying, so neither piece shifts or pulls at fine fabric. Free size in the truest sense: a piece of belief that asks nothing of the wearer except attention.
