Description

There is something quietly audacious about wearing mythology at your collar. The bow and arrow is one of India's oldest visual languages, carried through temple friezes, manuscript borders and the hands of metalworkers who understood that tension and precision could be made beautiful. This brooch, carved entirely in brass, honours that lineage. The motif is rendered with a sculptor's deliberateness: the arc of the bow taut, the arrow poised, the whole composition held within a silhouette that measures 5.08 centimetres in height and 6.86 centimetres in width. At 20 grams, the piece has genuine heft, the kind that reminds you something real was made by hand. Brass, long favoured in devotional and decorative metalwork across Rajasthan and the Deccan, takes a warm, antique-toned finish here that deepens rather than dazzles. The carving works in relief, so light catches the raised lines and lets the recesses settle into shadow. Pin it to the lapel of a hand-woven Chanderi silk jacket for a formal winter evening, or centre it at the neckline of a plain cotton kurta when you want one considered thing to carry the whole look. Free-sized and secured by a standard brooch pin at the reverse, this piece asks very little of you in terms of care: a soft cloth, kept away from moisture, and it will hold its warm brass tone through many wearings.
