Description

There are flowers that bloom once in a season, and then there are those set in Kundan, made to last a lifetime. This ring carries a full-faced blue flower at its centre, each petal outlined in the flat-set Kundan tradition, where stones are pressed into a gold-toned lac bed and held without prongs, the colour sealed against the metal rather than lifted above it. The base is brass, finished to carry the warmth of the Kundan setting without pretension. Blue stones, likely glass or resin composite in the manner of Rajasthani costume jewellery, sit with the quiet confidence of their more precious cousins. The silhouette is broad and frontal, measuring approximately 2.8 cm in height and 2.8 cm in width, with a total weight of fourteen grams that gives it genuine presence on the hand. The adjustable shank places it within the long Jaipur tradition of accessible Kundan work, where the same vocabulary of florals and settings travels from the master craftsman's bench to everyday wear. Pair it with an ivory kurta and raw silk dupatta for a festive afternoon. It sits equally well against the deep indigo of a Banarasi blouse worn under a sheer organza sari at an evening gathering. The open shank adjusts to fit most finger sizes without a trip to the jeweller. Brass holds its shape well with minimal care; a soft dry cloth is all it asks between wearings.
