Description

There are prayers that do not need words, only weight. Shaped as the beloved Vighnaharta himself, this pendant renders Ganesha in sterling silver with the quiet authority that South Indian and Rajasthani silversmithing share equally. The figure sits at one and a half inches tall and just under an inch wide (approximately 3.8 cm by 2.2 cm), the contours of the trunk, the modak, the single tusk worked with a hand-pressed clarity that catches light without demanding it. Sterling silver at this gauge, weighing 7.4 grams, carries a cool, honest lustre: no plating, no gilding, nothing to wear away with time. The finish appears satin-bright, the kind achieved by careful hand-polishing rather than machine buffing, giving the surface a depth that oxidised crevices in the relief work only deepen. It is devotional jewellery in the oldest sense, made to be worn close to the body rather than displayed at a distance. Slip it onto a fine silver chain beneath a Kanjivaram silk blouse at a puja or a naming ceremony, where it will read as an heirloom. Pair it equally well with a white cotton kurta on an ordinary Tuesday, because Ganesha needs no occasion. The pendant arrives in free size, meaning it fits any chain of standard gauge. At 7.4 grams it sits lightly on the chest, and sterling silver requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth to hold its integrity across years of daily devotion.
