Description

She who holds the lotus has been rendered here in sterling silver, small enough to rest at the hollow of a throat and weighty enough to mean it. Temple jewellery carries the oldest grammar of Indian adornment, its motifs drawn directly from the sanctum: deities framed in architectural arches, aureoles of petals, hands posed in blessing. This pendant, standing one and a quarter inches tall (approximately 3.2 cm), continues that lineage. Cast in sterling silver and finished to a warm, antiqued tone, it presents Goddess Lakshmi in her classic abhaya posture, the figure set within a tiered, shrine-like border that echoes the gopuram carvings of South Indian temple craft. At five grams, the piece carries genuine presence without pulling at the chain. The silverwork belongs to a tradition kept alive by artisans whose vocabulary is devotion made tangible, each contour of the goddess's form following conventions centuries in the making. Worn against a raw silk blouse in ivory or rust, it becomes the quiet centrepiece of a Puja-day ensemble. Equally, it sits with intention over a fine cotton kurta for a festive lunch or a cultural evening where restraint reads as fluency. The pendant is free-sized in its wear, accommodating any standard chain of your choosing. The antiqued sterling silver resists everyday tarnish well with minimal care, and the compact scale of 3.2 cm means it moves through the day without catching or weighing. A piece for the devout and the design-conscious alike.
