Description

The earth-touching gesture has been rendered in silver for centuries; here it arrives at your collarbone. Cast in sterling silver, this pendant depicts the Bhumisparsha mudra, the moment the Buddha reaches downward to call the earth as witness to his enlightenment. It is among the most compositionally complete of all Buddhist iconographic poses, and the karigar who worked this piece has respected its stillness entirely. The figure sits in dhyana on a lotus throne, fingers extended toward the ground with quiet authority. At roughly 1.3 inches tall by 0.75 inches wide (approximately 3.3 cm by 1.9 cm), the pendant carries genuine presence without overwhelming the neckline. Sterling silver lends the piece a cool, matte luminosity that suits the meditative subject; the metal, weighing 4.3 grams, has enough substance to sit steadily against the chest rather than shift with movement. This tradition of figurative silver casting draws from a long continuum of Buddhist devotional craft found across Bengal and the eastern Himalayan foothills, where iconographic precision is considered an act of reverence in itself. Wear it over a cream silk kurta for a cultural gathering where the motif will invite quiet conversation, or layer it on a fine chain over a collarless linen shirt for days when you want something grounding rather than decorative. The pendant is offered at a standard free size, suited to most chain gauges. The sterling silver finish requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth to retain its gentle gleam.
