Description

Worn close to the heart, this pendant carries the grace of a devotion that has sailed rivers and crossed centuries. Jhulelal, the Sindhi patron deity of water and wisdom, is rendered here in sterling silver with an antique finish that lends the surface a warm, time-worn depth. The oxidised treatment settles into every recess of the engraved detail, drawing out the deity's form with the quiet precision associated with devotional silverwork practised across Rajasthan and Sindhi artisan communities. Sterling silver, at its ninety-two-point-five per cent purity, holds this level of surface work well, allowing the antiquing to read clearly against the raised relief without muddying the line. At one point four inches tall by one point one inches wide (approximately three and a half by two point eight centimetres) and weighing ten grams, the pendant sits with pleasing substance on the chest, neither overwrought nor slight. Wear it on a fine silver chain with an ivory or deep navy kurta for a puja morning, or thread it on a black silk cord against a crisp white linen shirt when the occasion calls for something more understated and personal. The free-size bail accommodates chains of varying gauges, making it simple to swap between settings. The antique finish requires no special care beyond occasional gentle cleaning, and the weight of the sterling ensures the piece lies flat and travels comfortably through daily wear.
