Description

Batuk Bhairava carries the wild grace of Shaiva devotion, distilled here into 5.2 grams of sterling silver. The pendant renders the young Bhairava, fierce and luminous, in a form rooted in the tantric iconography of North India, where this child manifestation of Shiva is worshipped as a protector and remover of fear. Worked entirely in sterling silver, the piece achieves its depth through hand-finished relief, the deity's features, ornaments and posture rendered with the kind of attentive detail that speaks of a silversmith trained in devotional casting traditions. At 1.15 inches in height (approximately 2.9 cm), the silhouette is compact yet commanding, the silver surface carrying a warm, slightly antiqued brightness that catches light without ostentation. No gemstones interrupt the composition; the metal alone does the work, which is exactly as it should be. A piece like this belongs equally to the contemplative and the aesthetic. Wear it on a fine sterling silver chain over a cream handloom kurta for a day of cultural visits, or let it rest against a silk blouse at an evening of classical music, where its devotional weight reads as both personal and poetic. Free-size in construction, the pendant suits any chain gauge the wearer prefers. The sterling silver finish is durable enough for daily wear, and the restrained scale, under three centimetres tall and comfortably light on the chest, means it never overwhelms quieter dressing.
