Description

There are moments when devotion and adornment become the same gesture. Cast in sterling silver, this pendant captures Bal Krishna at his most beloved: the infant god settled into a swing, one foot raised, the whole composition holding the particular ease of a child who knows he is loved. The motif belongs to a long tradition of devotional silver-work found across Rajasthan and the temple towns of South India, where the image of the cradle-bound Krishna, Thakurji resting between play and sleep, has been rendered in metal for centuries. Measuring 1.2 inches in height by 0.75 inches in width (approximately 3 cm by 1.9 cm) and weighing 4.58 grams, the piece is slight enough to feel weightless at the throat yet detailed enough to reward a second glance. The silver is left bright, the surfaces catching light to define the swing's curves and the figure's softly rounded limbs without the need for any further embellishment. Wear it against a silk kurta in ivory or pale gold for a festive afternoon, or let it rest against a simple cotton anarkali on Janmashtami for something quietly devout. It pairs equally well with a fine gold chain, allowing the silver to contrast beautifully. At free size with a standard pendant bail, it sits easily on chains of varying widths. The sterling silver requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth, making it a practical piece of everyday devotion.
