Description

There are devotions that ask for no words, only the quiet weight of silver against the heart. This pendant carries the face of Shirdi Sai Baba rendered in sterling silver, the portrait set within an upright oval frame that measures just over three centimetres tall and a little under one and a half centimetres wide. The antique finish is achieved through deliberate oxidation, which draws shadow into the engraved details of the saint's robe and the raised contours of his benevolent expression, giving the piece the appearance of something inherited rather than newly acquired. At ten point eight grams, the silver has genuine presence without heaviness. The craft belongs to a long tradition of devotional silverwork practised across workshops in Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, where karigar families have cut and chased religious portraiture for temple patrons and household shrines alike. The oxidised surface is sealed to hold its depth over time. Wear it on a fine silver chain over a white cotton kurta for morning puja, letting the pendant rest at the collarbone where it can be touched in a moment of stillness. For formal occasions, it sits with quiet authority against the silk of a bandhgala or a restrained salwar suit. The free-size bail accommodates most chain thicknesses, and the compact silhouette means it lies flat without catching on fabric. Sterling silver at this weight requires only occasional polishing with a soft cloth to restore its lustre between wears.
