Description

There are faces that carry entire cosmologies within them. This pendant renders Lord Shiva in sterling silver, his visage emerging from the metal as though surfacing from meditation itself. The antique finish, achieved through careful oxidation of the silver, draws shadow into every carved contour: the third eye pressed into the brow, the matted locks suggested in relief above, the serene authority of a face that holds both destruction and grace in equal measure. At roughly one inch in height and half an inch in width (approximately 2.5 cm by 1.3 cm), the silhouette is precise and devotional without being overstated. Weighing just 4.4 grams, the piece sits light against the skin, the darkened silver lending it the quality of something ancient, recovered rather than newly made. This is the vocabulary of temple jewellery from South India, where silver has long been the metal of sacred iconography, polished to reverence rather than flash. Worn on a fine black cord for daily puja mornings, it becomes an act of quiet intention. Paired with a deep indigo kurta or a silk saree in muted tones, it reads as heirloom, a conversation-starter at festive gatherings or cultural events. The free-size pendant suits any chain or cord the wearer chooses. The oxidised finish requires no special care beyond keeping it dry, and the sterling silver construction ensures the motif remains sharp and legible through years of faithful wearing.
