Description

The peacock, forever mid-dance, caught in sterling silver at the height of a single gesture. In the iconography of Indian adornment, the peacock is never merely decorative. It carries the weight of monsoon longing, of Kartikeya's mount, of courts where meenakari karigars in Jaipur spent lifetimes perfecting its feathered arc. This ring borrows from that lineage, rendering the bird in oxidised sterling silver with a relief silhouette that reads clearly even at a small scale: a fanned tail, a crested head, a posture of arrested flight. At the centre, a piece of Tibetan turquoise, with its characteristic matrix of browns and greens threaded through the sky-blue ground, is set into the silver body, grounding the design in something geological and ancient. The stone is not glassy or uniform; that is precisely its virtue. The ring weighs just under five grams, and its face stands 0.9 inches, roughly 2.3 centimetres, tall. Wear it against a raw silk kurta in ivory for a Tuesday lunch that deserves more ceremony than it usually receives. It sits equally well on the index finger over a fine cotton saree blouse, where its oxidised finish reads as something excavated rather than purchased. The adjustable band opens from the back, fitting most finger sizes without resizing, making it genuinely wearable across hands. The oxidised finish resists the bright-new look, ageing gracefully with wear and requiring only a soft cloth to maintain its depth.
