about the piece,

Description

Tie-dye and zari meet in a conversation older than any fashion calendar. This dupatta draws from two of Gujarat's most beloved textile traditions: the resist-dyed geometry of Bandhani and the celebratory gold weave of Gharchola, a fabric historically gifted to brides and worn at moments of joyful ceremony. The zari threads are woven with quiet precision into a floral vine border that frames the Bandhani-dotted field, lending the piece a structured elegance without overwhelming its inherent warmth. Rendered in art silk, the fabric carries a soft luminosity that catches light graciously, whether indoors at a pooja or beneath an open courtyard sky. Available in a range of temperaments, from the restraint of Ivory to the festivity of Exuberance and the grounded depth of Patriot Blue, each colourway feels considered rather than coincidental. Drape it across a kurta set for a festive afternoon gathering, or layer it over a cotton anarkali to introduce texture and heritage into an otherwise simple silhouette. The floral vine border makes it particularly suited to occasions where detail is noticed and appreciated.

the story,

Behind this piece

The Gharchola is a bridal textile of Gujarat, traditionally gifted to a new bride and worn during the wedding ceremony itself. Its name derives from "ghar," meaning home, and the cloth has long carried the weight of auspicious beginnings. Here, the Bandhani tie-dye technique, practised for centuries by artisan communities in Jamnagar and Bhuj, meets the luminous discipline of zari weaving. The result is a dupatta where resist-dyed dots constellation across the field and a floral vine border in metallic thread traces the edge with quiet ceremonial grandeur.

to wear it,

How to style

Drape this dupatta over an ivory or shell-pink anarkali for a Mehendi or Haldi ceremony, anchoring the look with gold jhumkas and kolhapuris. For a festive lunch, layer it across a mirror-worked kurti in Garden Green with oxidised silver rings. Diaspora shoppers may pair the Patriot Blue or Exuberance colourways with a silk co-ord set for a Diwali gathering abroad, finishing with block-heeled mojris and a potli clutch. The zari border catches candlelight beautifully, making each of these pairings feel considered rather than costumed.

to last,

Fabric & care

Art silk carries the lustre of natural silk but requires its own careful attention. Hand wash separately in cold water with a mild, pH-neutral detergent, working gently without wringing or twisting the fabric. Rinse once and press out water by rolling in a clean cotton towel. Dry flat in shade, away from direct sunlight, which can fade the Bandhani dyes over time. Store folded in a soft muslin cloth, never in plastic. Keep the zari border protected from friction to preserve its metallic thread for many wearings.
