Cashmere Men's Scarf from Nepal with Checks Weave
Dry clean recommended. Store with natural cedar or neem leaves. Avoid direct sunlight and moisture.
Description
Some textiles ask nothing of you except that you slow down and feel them. This scarf is woven in Nepal from pure cashmere wool, a fibre combed from the soft underbelly of Himalayan mountain goats that graze at altitude, where the cold shapes everything. The checks weave is unhurried in its geometry, its crossings precise yet gentle, giving the cloth a quiet structure that does not announce itself. Cashmere from this region carries a particular warmth-to-weight ratio that lowland fibres rarely match, and the hand-feel softens further with each wearing. Offered in three considered colours, Marina, Old Gold, and River Blue, each shade holds the kind of depth that speaks to natural dye traditions and careful yarn selection rather than mass production. It is a scarf that suits the contemplative wearer as readily as the well-dressed one. Drape it loosely over a winter shawl-collar kurta for an unhurried evening gathering, or fold it across the shoulders of a wool overcoat for a journey that deserves a little ceremony.

Behind this piece
The Himalayan valleys of Nepal have long been the world's most exacting school for cashmere. Here, the fibre, combed from the underbelly of Changthangi goats, travels from the high plateaus of the Tibetan borderlands into the hands of weavers who understand cold in their bones. The checks weave on this scarf draws from a tradition of structured geometry that has dressed mountain communities for centuries. Each interlocking square is a small act of arithmetic, performed on looms where tension and patience are the only tools that matter. The result is order made soft.
How to style
Drape this scarf loosely over a charcoal bandhgala at a winter wedding, letting the Marina colourway echo the kurta's pewter buttons. For everyday ease, loop it once over a camel wool overcoat above slim churidar trousers and tan leather Kolhapuri sandals. On cooler evenings, the Old Gold variant pairs honestly with a cream cotton kurta and a carved bone or sandalwood bracelet at the wrist, no further ornamentation needed. River Blue reads beautifully against deep indigo denim for a sharper, more contemporary silhouette that still carries heritage in the weave.
Fabric & care
Cashmere of this grade asks very little, but it asks precisely. Hand-wash in cool water with a mild, pH-neutral soap, pressing the fabric gently rather than wringing it. Rinse thoroughly, then ease out excess water by rolling the scarf flat inside a clean cotton towel. Reshape by hand and dry on a flat surface away from direct sunlight. Never hang it to dry, as the weight will distort the weave. Store folded, not hung, inside a breathable cotton bag. A cedar block nearby will protect the fibre from moth without introducing chemical residue.
