Description

There are mangalsutras made to be worn, and there are those made to be remembered. This triple-chain mangalsutra belongs to the second kind. Three strands of gold-plated copper fall together in a quiet procession, gathering at a pendant that measures roughly six and a half centimetres in height and just over four centimetres across, its form rooted in the devotional geometry that has long defined bridal jewellery across the Deccan and southern India. The gold plating lends the copper base a warm, burnished finish, the kind that catches the light without demanding attention. At this weight, thirty-one grams distributed across a generous twenty-five-inch length (approximately sixty-three and a half centimetres), the necklace sits comfortably below the collarbone, the pendant settling at the sternum with an assurance that feels entirely intentional. There are no stones to distract; the craft rests wholly on form, proportion and the lustre of the plated surface. For a silk-draped Kanjivaram saree at a family puja, it is quietly authoritative. For a heavy cotton kurta at a festive lunch, it crosses the line from occasion wear to something more personal and daily. Free-sized, with a standard length that suits most necklines, this piece asks little in the way of care beyond keeping it away from water and perfume. The copper base ensures it is light enough for all-day wear without ever feeling like a compromise.
