Description

There is something quietly ceremonial about a mangalsutra that does not announce itself, but is simply, unmistakably, there. This double-chain mangalsutra is worked in copper and finished in a warm gold plating that carries the visual weight of something far older than its price suggests. The pendant, measuring two inches in height by approximately 1.2 inches in width (roughly 5 cm by 3 cm), draws on the vocabulary of traditional sacred geometry: layered medallion forms, symmetrical surface detailing and a structured silhouette that echoes the central motifs seen in south Indian and Maharashtrian mangalsutra traditions alike. The double chain, running a generous 25 inches (approximately 63.5 cm), lends the piece a composed, unhurried fall against the décolletage. At 21 grams, the pendant sits with reassuring presence without becoming cumbersome. The copper base gives the piece a warm undertone beneath the gold-plated surface, and the construction feels considered rather than incidental. Wear it with a fine Chanderi silk kurta for a quiet weekday elegance, or let it anchor the neckline of a heavy Kanjeevaram at a family occasion where the piece earns its full ceremonial register. Free-sized and fastening cleanly at the chain, this piece requires no adjustment and moves easily between dressed and daily wear. The gold plating benefits from gentle storage away from moisture, ensuring the finish holds its glow across seasons.
