Description

The peacock, India's most beloved celestial messenger, arrives here in the language of the mangalsutra. Worked in copper and finished in gold plating, the pendant centres on a stylised peacock motif, its tail feathers fanning outward to fill the full one-and-a-half inches of height and one-and-six-tenths of an inch of width (approximately 3.8 cm by 4 cm). The plating lends a warm, antique-adjacent luminosity without the weight of solid gold, and the piece carries the characteristic black-bead strand that marks the mangalsutra as more than ornament: it is a declaration. Earrings of one inch height and just over half an inch width (approximately 2.5 cm by 1.5 cm) echo the peacock silhouette at a quieter scale. The full set weighs a light twenty-four grams across its twenty-four inches of length, keeping it comfortable from morning through evening.
